According to historical and archeological sources, people have been living on the trail of wine in Župa for more than 3000 years. In written documents, it is first mentioned in 1196 in the Studenica Charter, where it is written that the prefect Stefan Nemanja donated wine-growing villages in Župa to the Studenica monastery.
